Professional Development: Behavior Analysis & Trauma: An Introduction on Integrating Clinical Practices
Trauma Informed Care is an area of growth within the behavior analytic community. As clinicians and technicians it is important to understand how to view behavior through the lens of trauma, while aligning with our scientific principles of behavior analysis and intervention choices.
This workshop will explore the following:
Viewing trauma through a behavior analytic lens
Focusing on the Four “Rs” of trauma informed care
Introductory explanation of trauma responses in the body
Reflective Practices and tools that may support increasing trauma informed care
Each of these areas relates to our processes within the behavior analytic community. When we’re able to incorporate trauma through a behavior analytic lens, we can shift the way we assess, build rapport, program and supervise. This workshop will function as a jumping off point. Attendees can be expected to start to gain basic understanding and know that this workshop is a small part of the learning process of trauma informed practices.
